Put together your own Romney
The Romney is the well-known half-round building, named after one of its original manufacturers. Other original manufacturers are Nissen and Quonset (also called Quinset). The unique shape makes the building exceptionally strong, whilst the structure is quite light. Over the years we have further developed the Romney shed according to the changing rules and regulations.
The Romney is available in different standard sizes with free spans from 5 to 20 metres. Thanks to its modular design, it is suitable for storage, agricultural use and hangars. Different doors, gable layouts and insulated versions are available.
Iconic curved shape
The Romney is the well-known half-round steel building, also known as a Quonset or Nissen hut. Its curved shape gives the building a strong and recognisable appearance.
Strong and relatively lightweight
Thanks to the curved design, the structure remains strong while using relatively light steel profiles. This makes the Romney technically efficient and cost-effective.
Suitable for high snow and wind loads
The curved roof shape performs particularly well in areas with higher snow and wind loads. Where other building types may require much heavier and more expensive steel sections, the Romney remains efficient.
Ideal for export
Because of the large number of identical components, the Romney can be packed very compactly. Up to approximately 600 m² can fit into a standard 20 ft container, making it highly suitable for export projects.
Also available insulated
The Romney can also be supplied as an insulated steel building. This makes it suitable for storage, workshop space and other applications requiring a more enclosed environment.
Widely applicable
The Romney is widely used as a hangar, agricultural building or storage facility. It remains a practical solution wherever a strong and functional steel building is required.
